| On Sunday 13th July 2003
we took a team of five to the Welsh Junior Nationals in Cardiff.
Ben Corbishley represented the club in the Under
30 kilos, Richard
Daniels and Mike in
the Over 60 kilos. In the girls category we had Min Vincent in
the Under 50 kilos (just!) and Vicky Corbishley in
the Under 55 kilos.
They all fought hard, and Min was lucky enough to come second
in her weight category and win a silver trophy. Richard and
Mike were up against tough competition, and Mike just missed
getting
a bronze, losing to his last opponent on points.

Vicky and Ben were both injured during their
fights and needed medical attention, but Ben managed to win two
out of his four fights before being stretchered off by the St John
Ambulance team. There were a few anxious moments for Sally (their
Mom) when she thought she was going to have to make a visit to
the local Casualty department with both Ben and Vicky, but fortunately
the injuries turned out not to be too serious.
Sensei John Cole had a few words with the team
after the event, thanking them for representing the club in the
contest and congratulating them all on their performances.
